2018 Boston Marathon - 3:41:19

I don’t even know where to start here. Honestly, 🦄 Boston Marathon 🦄 is just unreal in every way. I’m not even going to try to keep this short. And considering that me trying to keep race recaps short usually means 3,000 words, you may want to grab a pot of coffee and bagged lunch. The lead up I won’t go into my training or the media stuff again since I already did, but this day was seven years in the making for me. [Read More]

Boston Marathon Training and Goals

Of course, I saved this until the last minute, but I was a little busy enjoying the hell out of Boston, okay? Anyway, let’s get to it, shall we? Training My training, as per the norm anymore, wasn’t great. It wasn’t the worst thing ever, for sure, but it wasn’t great. I had a really solid training plan in mind, but that went out the window when I started battling a case of runner’s knee. [Read More]

Pre-Boston Marathon Media Coverage

I’m sure you’ve all seen the barrage of news articles about transgender runners who will be running Boston Marathon this year. It’s been nothing less than a flood. And I hate it. Look, I’m obviously no stranger to media attention and I’m sort of used to this kind of thing. It happens every once in a while—not just with running, but I experienced it with the startup I confounded a few years ago as well. [Read More]

2018 NYCRUNS Ladies First Half Marathon - 1:46:34

The view from the pier at the start/finish. Things about been kind of quiet over here at Amelia HQ. I’ve been dealing with a bout of runner’s knee for the last couple of months and a little bit of depression. The good news is going back to physical therapy has helped the knee a lot. It’s not 100%, but it’s getting closer and handling jumping my mileage back up for the last few weeks before Boston. [Read More]

2017 Chicago Marathon - 3:32:28

Chicago Marathon number three and my twelfth marathon overall! Let me just say off the bat, I have weird mixed feelings about this race. It’s hard to complain about a 3:32 finish and a BQ, but I’m not exactly thrilled with how I got there. But before I get into the race itself… Pre-race Danielle and I got to Chicago in the early afternoon on Thursday and, for the most part, I didn’t want to spend too much time on my feet, but Thursday and Friday ended up being bit more walking around than planned. A quick pre-Chicago Marathon training update

Since it’s sort of the last minute here and I’m planning to go to bed in an hour, I’m going to keep this short…at least for my standards. But I did want to throw up a quick little pre-race post regarding training. Going into my third Chicago Marathon and twelfth marathon total tomorrow, I can’t remember the last time I felt this out of running shape. It’s hard to describe, but I just feel slow and untrained. 2017 Newport Liberty Half Marathon - 1:48:45

This post probably should have gone up two weeks ago, rather than today, but I’ve fallen a bit behind. I love the Newport Liberty Half Marathon. Not really because it’s a particularly amazing race, in fact, large chunks of the the course are on roads and paths that aren’t in the best of conditions. But the race is in my home of Jersey City and parts of the course are along my daily running routes in Liberty State Park and the Jersey City Waterfront. [Read More]
